Santa Barbara Humane is seeking a Manager of Volunteer Engagement. SBH is our county’s largest nonprofit animal welfare organization, with two campuses each providing veterinary services, dog training, volunteer opportunities, and of course, animals looking for new families.

This is an exciting opportunity to coordinate volunteer efforts that support all aspects of daily operations and client services at progressive, open-door, managed admission shelters and veterinary clinics nestled between the beautiful beaches and majestic mountains along the Central Coast!

Our Manager of Volunteer Engagement is a key member of our hard-working and goal-driven team, collaborating directly with leadership and department managers to meet the volunteer needs of the organization at both campuses. This boots-on-the-ground position contributes in a significant way to our mission of being “champions for animals and the people who love them.” 

The ideal candidate will possess at least 3 years of experience in program development and management, ideally with an emphasis on working with volunteers in an animal health or welfare environment. No two days are the same, so our candidate will demonstrate the ability to adapt quickly to changing scenarios, enjoy multitasking, and be comfortable driving county-wide.

Here’s what we hope your resume showcases:

• Experience as a nonprofit volunteer coordinator or manager with a proven record of volunteer engagement and retention.

• Experience coordinating and managing teams, teaching skills, and communicating a workplace culture.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong sense of teamwork and collaboration. 

• Sincere interest in supporting and advocating for the philosophies, policies, and mission of SBH, a Socially Conscious Shelter.
